– Easy Torai, what
s good? Can you introduce yourself to the Get Some readers.

Ayyyyyy this Glenn Jones loop i’ve been caning for an hour is what’s good!?!?! I’m a 19 year old producer from Manchester, originally from Madeira in Portugal [ye where the cake’s from].

– How did you get into producing and djing? And which came first?

I got into producing about 6 years ago when I absolutely blagged my way into doing Music as a GCSE in school early. We had to compose classical tunes in some dodgy software called Sibellius the majority of the time, but occasionally we’d get the chance to mess about on Cubase and I guess I got well into it. You know, I found the tune on my hard drive the other day and the shit is actually straight footwork, was really weird to hear. The djing didn’t really come along until much later, well apart from scratching beat up hip hop records on a belt drive turntable now and again that is.

– A lot of your tracks surface then quickly disappear from Soundcloud, is there a reason behind that?

Hahahaha yeah it’s true, i’m definitely guilty! I guess it’s just a case of being stupidly bipolar when it comes to particular tunes. I’ve got ADHD so I have the shortest attention span going. It used to be really bad when I was younger, I was on Ritalin at one point and that shit was awful. I can go from absolutely loving one of my tunes to despising it in minutes which isn’t the best of traits. I guess overall it just means the content that does surface and stick around is shit I’m generally more confident with. I get shouts about tunes I’ve deleted and it makes me feel some type of way hahaha. I really like the aspect of if you were there at that time then you got it, I suppose it creates some form of exclusivity and meaning in a time when content is fairly easily accessible and substanceless.

One track that did stick around was Nike’d Out Hoodies Low, which was recently featured on a 4 track vinyl care of the Foundation crew. How did all that come around?

Ahhh, that’s thanks to man like Neffa-T over at It’s Foundation. Olly’s been supporting my music from day one and it definitely didn’t go unnoticed so when he asked for the tune on his upcoming release it was a no brainer for me I guess. You know the funniest thing about that tune is that it’s a kinda
Soulja Boy Crank Dat story.  I made it 2 years ago when I’d JUST downloaded Ableton on a new PC so had absolutely minimal samples and plug ins. Most of the sounds are just presets very very slightly tweaked. I think it’s safe to say I was sold on Ableton after that.

– Youve recently had shows on Radar, could you tell us a little bit about that?

Well Radar is THE radio in London right now and if you don’t know that then I really don’t know where you’ve been for the past year. Big up man like 187 every single time, Jack Dat, Olly & the rest of the Radar crew. There’s always the best vibe whenever you pass through and it’s exactly how a radio station should be. Look out for some shows very soon, I’m last minute as fuck when it comes to radio but it’s always fun.

– Can you tell us about any forthcoming projects you might have?

Well, a self released LP is well overdue so expect that in the coming months as well as a ton of collaborative tunes with the likes of Endgame, Utah?, Holloway & Daffy. A cassette release is also slowly coming together, so some slightly more experimental works and some of the tunes that disappeared might see the light of day.

– Which artists and labels excite you most?

Hold tight BokBok & the whole of the Night Slugs crew, that ones extremely self explanatory. I’m a huge fan of the Vogue & Ballroom scene so man like Mike Q, Junior Vasquez, Kevin Aviance & Kevin Jz Prodigy get heavy rotation. FKA Twigs is a goddess and every one of hers gets etched every single time. The whole dancehall scene is absolutely popping atm, Mixpak are absolutely killing it and have one of the most interesting & versatile rosters going IMO. I could go on for days but I’ll keep it rolling…

– Tell us a bit about the track youve sent for Get Some Introducing.

It all started one very very very odd night when I was lurking in a strange part of youtube… I’d had a random urge to go to disneyland and started watching loads of walkthroughs of rides I remember’d riding as a kid. It got to the Tower Of Terror ride and as the keys started playing I clocked some sort of resemblance to the keys on Icy Lake. Got a good quality copy of the theme tune, threw in some ha’s…bless.
